Tina Buchanan discovered bluegrass almost by accident. She belongs to an 18th century re-enactment group and decided that her character in the reenactments needed an instrument to play. She settled on mandolin as the instrument her character would be most likely to play.
She bought an instrument then figured she'd better learn how to play it. She couldnt find a teacher who knew anything about 18th century music but did find Doug who knew how to play bluegrass. Tina thought she'd be able to learn to play bluegrass style to begin with, then use that knowledge to learn some 18th century music.
To paraphrase Ron Thomason, a bit like 'told you that to tell you this" .. kind of thing.
But it didnt all go to plan. When Tina started to learn bluegrass mandolin, she got caught by the virus that infects us all when we start listening to bluegrass. Now she's hooked on bluegrass like the rest of us. She listens to the show regularly and contributes nearly every week.
SUCKED IN TINA!!! GOTCHA!!!
